Man sentenced to 165 to 220 years on several felonies

PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) – A Sarpy County man who broke into a home, tied up and sexually assaulted a woman and then stole money from her was sentenced Monday to 165 to 220 years in prison.

Sarpy County District Judge George Thompson sentenced Stephen R. Prior, 56, after agreeing with a jury that he met the criteria as a habitual criminal, The Omaha World-Herald reported.

Prior has been jailed in Sarpy County since he was arrested in October 2017. He was found guilty Sept. 30 of nine felonies stemming from the break-in and assault at a home on Oct. 18, 2017.

Prior had served about eight years in the 1980s and 1990s for burglary and robbery. He also had a number of protection orders against him in the Omaha area from women who said Prior had harassed them, according to court records.
